Brendan is a practising Accredited Exercise Physiologist, Director of The Knowledge Exchange – a continuing education organisation for health and movement professionals, Director of the Biomechanics – two multi-disciplinary practices in Port Melbourne and Footscray, and is a PhD candidate at the University of South Australia.

Brendan’s interest in perceptual and behavioural science led him to undertake a Master of Research degree looking at the interactions between visual sensory information (provided using virtual reality) and a person’s interoceptive accuracy on perceptions of effort and affect during stationary cycling exercise. The culmination of this research, alongside his clinical experience as an Exercise Physiologist working in the musculoskeletal injury and pain space, motivated him to continue his research career and continue with a PhD.

Brendan’s PhD aims to explore how perceptions, beliefs, and behaviours (particularly during clinical interactions) influence the recovery of those suffering from pain and their impact on perceived affordances and future healthcare service use.

Brendan has taught in the tertiary education system since 2012 and has delivered continuing education courses nationally and internationally since 2016 through The Knowledge Exchange.
