Today’s guest is Dani Font, a Pilates instructor who has experienced personal transformation through Pilates education. This chat with Dani is candid, touching, and uplifting as she explains what Pilates has done for her on her journey of recovery from an eating disorder. It’s a story of thriving and flourishing through challenges, hoping for the future, and finding joy and self-discovery through movement.

Anxiety and Perfectionism

Dani and Raph chat about anxiety and perfectionism in the Pilates community. Dani shares how anxiety and perfectionism go hand in hand with eating disorders, and how Pilates has been integral in her journey through recovery. There can be a lot of perceived pressure in the Pilates world to be flexible, strong, and to look a certain way. Dani and Raph discuss what Pilates is really about, and why there is no such thing as a “real” Pilates teacher. 

The Power of Learning

A major piece of Dani’s recovery journey has been her Pilates education. Even though she already had qualifications to teach, Dani still pursued training with Breathe Education. She explains why education is so important to her personal growth and the role it’s played in helping her to rediscover her identity. Dani explains how Breathe Education’s courses pushed her to overcome some hurdles and make positive, lasting changes.

Dani Font is a Pilates instructor and Breathe Education grad. Dani had been involved in movement and sports all her life before entering the Pilates world soon after finishing high school. She has a background in dance, dance instruction, and acrobatics coaching. Throughout her journey, Dani has continued to place a high value on continued education and finding her own voice. Dani’s “why” is guiding clients through making small, daily gains in their physical health which lead to great improvements for their overall quality of life.

Cloe is fascinated by movement in general, and its ability to enhance our lives, at any age. Her own movement practice includes Contrology/Pilates, running, weights, and kettlebells. She has a Diploma of Clinical Pilates, Cert IV in Pilates, and Cert IV in Training and Assessing.
